Nowadays, non-degradable plastic packaging materials have created significant disposal and pollution issues threatening human health development. The utilization of biodegradable can help address the issue. Cellulose is abundant renewable, cellulose-based been regarded as an alternative to petroleum-based food packaging. With development cellulose solvents, various regenerated films hydrogels fabricated for different applications. In this review, we summarize recent progress in preparation hydrogels, highlight their potential applications packaging, active intelligent Finally, biodegradability safety are stated, future opportunities challenges research area described.
